Another splendid weekend in Lesotho.

This place never fails to leave me in awe. You simply can’t exhaust the Drakensberg — the same hike, in a different season or with different people, feels completely new, as if you’re experiencing it for the first time.

A true playground for adventure lovers: dramatic rocks as far as the eye can see, breathtaking ridge walks, expansive views, crystal clear streams and beautiful wildlife at every turn. What a gift.

Another memorable weekend in the mountains.

Not going to lie—this hike had me questioning my life choices more than once.
Pro tip: don’t take on a challenging hike when you’re on the brink of a cold… especially in winter. It will push you over the edge.

At one point, I found myself wondering:
“Why do I choose to spend my weekends waking up at 4:30am to trudge up a massive hill with a heavy bag, and sleep in the cold, just to hike back down the next day?”
Dramatic, I know—but it’s just what went through my mind.

Thankfully, the doubt never lingers for long.
The moment I drop my pack and take in the view, the struggle softens. I remember why I keep coming back.
Mountains leave you with a sense of wonder that’s hard to come by in today’s fast-paced world. It’s where I feel closest to God—surrounded by silence, majesty, and the rawness of creation.

A massive shoutout to @justclydecreative - her can-do attitude and quiet grit carried me up the never-ending pass as we navigated our way to Twins Cave. Her mental strength and hunger for new experiences make her the ultimate adventure buddy.

This hike was no joke—but it was so worth it.
The Drakensberg is truly a treasure: vast, majestic, and endlessly wild. The lack of signage and well-maintained trails? Honestly, it just adds to the adventure. It’s like stepping back in time… though I could’ve done without the constant whipping from grass and thorny bushes not to mention the never-ending pathfinding.

Now, sitting in the comfort of my little farm cottage, I am grateful for the challenge, the beauty, and the people who make it all worthwhile.

Already counting down to the next mountain mission.

A magical Easter weekend of trekking, tubing, and exploring in the stunning Drakensberg Mountains… topped off with plenty of dreaming and scheming for “next year”

A magical Easter weekend of trekking, tubing, and exploring in the stunning Drakensberg Mountains… topped off with plenty of dreaming and scheming for “next year”

This past weekend, we had the incredible privilege of witnessing the hatching of some loggerhead turtles in Kosi Bay while celebrating another trip around the sun for @amymaybalarin.

In 2023 and 2024, I had the honor of watching some leatherback turtles laying their eggs, during visits to Ponta Malongane in Mozambique. We were also spoiled with an unforgettable dolphin encounter in 2023. These are experiences that many people never have in their lifetime, and I do not take for granted how lucky I am to have witnessed them.

I’m deeply grateful to be part of a community that values experiences over material possessions and is always eager for new adventures. I recognize the privilege of being able to prioritize these things, as it’s not a reality for so many others. My hope is that more people will have access to these landscapes and that the barriers to experiencing them will lower. I would also love to see people develop a deeper appreciation for their own surroundings and find beauty in the everyday.

The more time I spend in nature, the more determined I am to protect it. I hope others feel the same. During our time in Kosi Bay, we met some incredible local people who are making meaningful strides in conservation and community upliftment. It was inspiring to connect with individuals who have such a deep passion for their home and the people within it. Their mission to educate and foster a love for wild spaces was truly moving, and I look forward to seeing their work continue to grow and thrive.
